Jujutsu (or jiu-jitsu 柔術) is a martial art consisting of joint locks, throwing, grappling, and striking techniques. Translated from Japanese it means „the gentle art” (ju – gentle, soft, and jutsu – art). Classes are appropriate for males & females ages 6 years and older including teens and adults.  Lead by 8th-degree jujutsu blackbelt and owner of Yamaji Dojo Martial Arts & Fitness Centre, Phillip Yang.

For girls and boys, pre-schoolers LOVE Little Dragons. Ages 4 & 5 are important years of your child’s development. Our Little Dragons Program has been professionally developed specifically for preschoolers to teach them important life skills with an exciting, enriching, and age-appropriate curriculum that is always fun.

We use a unique concept known as “Edutainment”, to teach your child focus, discipline, and confidence, which are life skills vital to succeed in school, relationships, and life.

More Than Just Learning To Kick And Punch!
Our Little Dragons Program will keep your child physically fit as well as encourage the benefits of good behavior, teamwork, and being their best at home, at school, and in social situations. Little Dragons will improve your child’s motor skills and enhance their mental development to help them face life’s challenges. They will increase their self-esteem, be a better listener, and have a positive outlook.

Life Skills Education
Our Little Dragons Program teaches your child life skills based on the. The eight basic life skills Focus, Teamwork, Self-Control, Memory, Balance, Discipline, Fitness, and Coordination are the cornerstone skills of this innovative teaching system.

An Education In Safety
Our Little Dragon’s Program also teaches valuable safety skills such as “Stranger Danger,” “When to Call 911,” “Fire Safety,” and “Never to Play with Dangerous Objects.”

Rewarding Achievement
Your child will be rewarded with “Little Dragons” achievement certificates and colored stripes on their white belt as they progress through their skills development. These skills prepare the children to enter our Kids Jujutsu class (ages 6-12). The skill stripes will inspire them to be goal-oriented and to always do their best.

With 44 years in martial arts, teaching thousands of kids and raising 3 daughters – in my opinion, every child should be put into martial arts. The training promotes confidence, discipline, respect, and many other developmental qualities.

Children are like sponges. When they are young and as they grow they absorb everything they see and listen to. It is important to surround them in a positive atmosphere so that they grow as an individual in a positive sense. Jujutsu allows them to do so. Not only does it teach them a form of self-defense, but it also teaches many life lessons as well that a child can carry with them. Jujutsu is one of the most practical martial arts you can put your child in. Today especially we see a lot of bullying in schools. Jujutsu allows the child to gain control from the ground up of a physical threat. We certainly do not want to encourage children to fight if they have the option to defend themselves and find a way out of the situation.
